Tiger Woods Fined for Careless Driving in One-Car Accident near His Home

Tiger Woods Car CrashIt seems the whole world has been talking about Tiger Woods. It all began with the news of his one-car accident near his home in the Orlando area. The 14-time winner and golf champ ran his 4 x 4 into a fire hydrant and then a tree when leaving his home in Windermere earlier this month.

Woods claimed full responsibility for his accident in which no one else was injured and he was fined by the Orlando police for careless/reckless driving. While Woods attempted to keep the incident from the press, referring to it as a “private matter”, he did state that his wife was a hero, rescuing him from the crashed vehicle and tending to him until medical personnel arrived.

While we may not all be as famous and well known as Tiger Woods, we can all be in an accident in our vehicles if we are not careful. Accidents happen often in leased vehicles, particular 4 x 4 type vehicles such as the one Woods was driving.

It is especially important that you obey all traffic laws and drive safely and carefully while in your leased vehicle. The risk of bodily harm or harm to others is great but there is also a large financial responsibility that comes with wrecking your leased vehicle.

In addition to careless driving fines such as the ones Woods’ faced, you may also have to pay for the leased vehicle in full if it is totaled in an accident. Offenses will go on your permanent driving records and repeat offenses could also affect your ability to get a vehicle lease.

It seems we can all can learn from the Woods’ recent driving incident and take these lessons into our own driving practices. Most accidents DO happen near home and even the most minor driving infractions can have serious consequences, sometimes bigger than even we know.
