Volkswagen will release a new model of the iconic Beetle in 2012, and according to VW’s Group Head Designer, it “will be a big step” for the brand.
The Beetle has been a huge success for VW in the US, with the European and the UK market often branding it a little bit too ‘girly’, and a bit gimmicky. But the US buyers seem to love the new Beetle, with sales peaking at 83,434 in the country in 1999.

Europe’s largest car makers Volkswagen are expected to buy a stake in Suzuki Japan, with the deal being confirmed by the end of 2009.
A Suzuki executive, apparently commented on a potential deal at the recent Frankfurt Motor Show: “For Suzuki and VW this connection would be a win-win situation. There has been a wait of several years for this cute little concept, and now the fully electric powered Volkswagen E-Up has finally arrived. It was firstly packaged as the Up! with a rear engine layout and was immediately labelled as the replacement for the Beetle: A ‘car for the people’ for the future.
This little motor carries 240kg of lithium-ion batteries, but remarkably still only weighs just 1085 kg, and is 3.2-meters long.
