The Lotus Evora Cup Racer has been revealed and is set to star in a special one-make racing series in 2011. Boosting the power output from 280bhp to a massive 400bhp by increasing the capacity of the standard Evora’s V8 up to 4.0-litres has certainly made a huge difference to the car’s abilities. Lotus unveiled the latest incarnation of the fabulous Exige two-seater sports car at the recent Tokyo Motor Show, with a very limited edition version call the Lotus Exige Scura.
Scura is Italian for “dark” and a clever combination of matt and gloss black paint and plenty of carbon fibre trim means that its “stealth-fighter” visual appeal is certainly a match for its driving appeal. The Lotus Elise is widely regarded as one of the best driver’s cars on the market, but Lotus haven’t rested on their laurels and have introduced a special edition called the Elise Club Racer.
Specials are popular with the Lotus enthusiasts, but rather than making a mad, lightweight out-and-out racer that we’ve seen from other manufacturers with their special editions, the Racer actually focuses more on looks than performance.
