Lexus Hatch Concept To Take On German Rivals

Posted in Concept Cars,

Debuting this month, the Lexus LF-Ch Concept is aiming squarely for the BMW 1-series and the Audi A3 on their home patch at the Frankfurt motor show.

Latest pictures reveal a ground-breaking design that, along with technical innovation and according to Lexus, will “raise the bar in the premium compact segment’.

Expected to be based pretty much on the already successful Toyota Prius platform, the LF-Ch is likely to offer an electric-only option of the Lexus Hybrid Drive that was shown in the Lexus HS250 back at the Detroit motor show in January, and which enables quiet driving with zero emissions around town.

When power and performance are needed, the 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine can kick in and help take the total power output up to a respectable 184bhp. The design and technology will be combined in a practical and compact 5-door hatchback, which will offer the same level of luxury as its German rivals but differentiates itself through its green credentials.

The new Lexus LF-Ch is expected to make production in 2012 but may be pulled in due to competitive pressure; but in the meantime, why not take a look at Lexus leasing options starting from just £402.13 per month.
