The McLaren F1 supercar and the latest rival to the tiny Smart car might seem worlds apart, but they have one thing, and one person, in common. Just like in his legendary F1 supercar design, Gordon Murray’s new concept, the T25 places the driver right in the centre of the car, although admittedly a far less powerful one than before.

Clever seating design on the T25 means that the central driving position allows for a rear passenger either side of the driver, with their legs stretching past him right and left, while still leaving ample luggage space - and all in a car no bigger than its Smart rival.
It’s surprising that there aren’t more cars like this, with the central driving position a natural winner for driving, parking and manoeuvring. It also makes life far less complicated for manufacturers and importers as a central driven car will suit the road world wide without any changes for left or right hand drive.
However the T25 remains just a concept at this stage, with Murray currently looking for manufacturing support to bring his clever little three-seater to the streets. Until then, you’ll just have to settle for Smart car Leasing
