Mazda celebrated the 20th birthday of the fabulous MX-5 roadster by unveiling their Superlight concept car at the Frankfurt motor show.

The latest face-lifted version of the MX-5 was used as a starting point for Mazda’s concept, and extreme weight reduction methods were employed in the search for an ultimate driver’s car. If you feel your standard Scooby just isn’t fast enough then take it to Ali Afshar. The specialist Subaru Impreza modifier has taken a stock WRX STi to his Easy Street/ESX Motorsports workshop and performed his magic to get the car from 0-60mph in a staggering 1.9 seconds.

Motorists to be Blamed for All Accidents Involving Cyclists

cyclistsIn an extraordinary bid to promote cycling, Government advisors are looking to make drivers legally responsible for any accidents involving cyclists, even if they aren’t at fault. Proposed changes to law include the intention to make the most powerful vehicle in an accident responsible for causing the accident.

This kind of approach is also being looked at by the European Commission who wants motorist’s insurance companies to fork out for pedestrians as well as cyclists hurt in an accident.

Kia Forte LPI Hybrid Finally Makes it to Europe

With the Forte LPI Hybrid already on sale to the Korean public, Kia is finally bringing hybrid power to Europe for testing. Kia displayed their very first hybrid model at the recent Motor Show in Frankfurt and their plan now is to bring a fleet of approximately 36 Kia LPI Hybrids to Europe in 2010 for some ‘real world research’.

Things are looking promising for Kia with the face-lifted Cee’d  and Sorrento SUV models, which include strong engines and an improvement in quality, but it doesn’t hide the fact that Kia are way behind in offering hybrid-powered vehicles globally.

Citroen Celebrates 90 Years with Special Edition Vans

Citroen is 90 years old this year, and the French car manufacturer is launching a new, limited edition range of vans to join the C3 Picasso car to celebrate the occasion, each having a special 90-year logo.

The Zoe ZE (zero emissions) is a little, all electric supermini which took centre stage at Renault’s stand in Frankfurt.

Lexus LF-A Supercar - A Grand Affair

Spy shots of the Lexus LF-A supercar testing at the Nurburgring track are emerging, showing that the car is nearly finished with front and rear bumpers, diffuser and clearly the active spoiler.
