Disappointed by the lack of buyers for the Z4 M, BMW have been tarting up the latest version of the little roadster with some sporty bits and bobs in the form of the M Sport Package, in the hope to tempt more cost-conscious customers to the brand.

The model spied testing at the Nurburgring track is the flagship Z4 sDrive35i dressed in M Sport Package clothing. A twin-turbo 3.0-litre engine boasts 302bhp and 295lb ft of torque, pushing the car to 62mph in 5.2 seconds. And this isn’t exactly slow, especially with all its new clobber. Tweaks include stiffer suspension and larger wheels, restyled front and rear bumpers; larger and lower front grilles, and a squarer rear than that of a normal Z4, all of which are covered with the standard swirly BMW camouflage in recent spy shots, and have given the Z4 a muscular and sportier look.
The Z4’s M Sport Package shouldn’t be that different to the one for the 3 Series, which includes performance tyres, rear park distance control, dark exterior trim, and anthracite headliner, sports seats, M steering wheel and the option of a paddle shifters. BMW is expected to offer the package on all versions of the Z4, so you can save yourself a load of money and have one that looks just like a Z4 M but without the hefty price tag.
The M Sport Package is expected to be made available early next year, but until then you could lease the current BMW Z4 from £449.09 per month.
